Sure, there are beautiful and wonderful things about many other parts of the country. The northeast is gorgeous, especially in the autumn, like you mentioned. But there is nothing like California, and the “casual acceptance” you loved is what I love most about northern California too. It’s a very special place and I think once you’ve been a part of it it never leaves you.
